I May Have A Scrap Problem... Inspiration Galore! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, it's been a while since I've shared on a scrappy Wednesday - time sure flies when you are having fun!  Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to sew with scraps, although I have huge plans for my scrap stash... But I did get to look at some lovely inspiration this week and I bet you'll find it as wonderful as I did!

Doesn't that make you want to go dig in your solids scraps?

And ditto for your low volume scraps?  This one must truly be a labor of love - that's a ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Inspiration! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I have to admit that I haven't been playing in the scraps much lately, but I have seen some amazing inspiration on Instagram that has me wanting to dig them out!  Here's just a few...

This "round robin" style quilt really caught my eye!  I'm still analyzing why it is so appealing to me...

This one is really interesting too - the design is subtle, rather like a faded old oriental rug.

And what a wonderful explosion of color this quilt is!  I would name it "Fireworks"!

This lovely sunny quilt uses bricks in a size ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But I'm Working On It! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, it has been a heck of a week - I not only got last Monday's list all finished, but I had time to play with scraps!  And it felt so good...

I started out with a mess of 1.5" wide strings...

Sewed them together jelly roll style....

Cut that long strip into a bunch of squares and arranged them on the wall...

Wasn't so sure about that look (or size) so I bet you can guess what I did with them next....

And here's what's on my design wall now!  It's not ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... So Many Pretties!! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I haven't had much time for scrap sewing this week (although I have made a bunch of scraps to add to the stash!) but I did find some seriously great inspiration!  So I'll share that with you, and see if it inspires you as well...

How about this fabulous orphan block quilt?

And just think how many scraps this design would use up (and my blue scrap bin is overflowing...)

I love the simplicity of a two-color quilt, and this one is so pretty!

Honestly, I'm not sure whether I like the quilt top or ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem....Looking Ahead! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

You may recall that a few weeks ago I asked readers for suggestions for my 2021 tutorial series.  If you aren't familiar with it, each year in January I do a series of posts with tutorials for quick, simple quilts perfect for charity giving - all as a precursor to the Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge.  There were lots of great suggestions, but the one that really caught my attention was a request for tutorials using scrappy strings.  Lord knows I have PLENTY of scrappy strings to play with!

So I started keeping that in mind as I cruised ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But Wow Am I Inspired! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, vacation is over and wow was it wonderful!  And now I'm back to real life as we roar like a freight train to the holidays.  Seems like time passes so quickly, doesn't it?

It felt really nice to be back in my studio today, although I only had a few minutes to play.  There is so much to be done then first day back from home - laundry, groceries, putting things away - but I did make a few minutes to work on another reindeer.   I'm getting close to finishing all nine, and I can't ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But Plaidish May Be The Cure! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It took a vacation to give me some time to do some scrappy sewing, but hey, I'll take it when I can get it!  You may remember a few weeks ago when Lilli and I spent an afternoon together pulling fabrics...

...which I then turned into a kit and tucked away for vacation.  It took all my will power not to dig right in - but there were other quilts that took precedence.

Someone was looking out for me, though, because when we got to Perdido Key we had two rainy days that kept us from enjoying the ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... No Sewing, But Lots of Inspiration! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a busy week of sewing, but not much on the scrappy front.  However, I did find some fabulous things hidden away on Instagram that I think are share-worthy (and drool-worthy!) so I'll let you see what you think.  And away we go!!!

First up is a beautiful 100-days project by Wendy of Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life...

And here's another gorgeous plus quilt, this time by Joy (@TheMakingsofJoy).  Just a note, I think this is a nine-patch block rather than a true plus block.

This is a beautiful way to use up ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But I'm Working On It! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Just a quick post this week, because I haven't had much time to even cruise through Instagram, but I did play with scraps this week!  Last Wednesday Lilli spent the day with me and one of the things we did was to sort through all my 5" squares.....

...to pull fabrics for a Plaid-ish quilt!  Just in case you haven't seen this awesome quilt before, here's an example of a scrappy version...

(not my work!)

Isn't that gorgeous?  Well, after Lilli and I pulled all those fabrics, I decided that the least I could ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But Here's Some Inspiration! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Last Thursday I received an email from one of you wonderful readers, checking to see if I was okay because I hadn't posted on Wednesday!  With that in mind, how could I miss another week just because I didn't do any scrappy sewing this week?  But, while I didn't get to do any scrap-busting, I did spend some time on Instagram and found some totally amazing inspiration.  So now I'm going to live up to my title of The Great Enabler and share with you!

This is a simple quilt, but so cute!
And ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem...No Time for Scrappy Sewing, But... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

There has not been much time for scrappy sewing around here, as I have been working on a mask order, but I have run across lots of inspiration on Instagram that makes me happy.  Let me share it with you (oh, I am SUCH an enabler...)

Isn't this just the cutest little scrap quilt?  Bright and cheerful!

And I have to admit that Beth made my heart go pitter patter with these tiny little scrap tree ornaments...

I am loving this simple quilt pattern made different by the use of a dark background instead of white!

Aren ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem...So Many Quilts, So Little Time! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Seems like every time I open up Instagram these days, I see more and more gorgeous scrappy quilts!  I'm busy working on another commission t-shirt quilt right now....

...so I haven't had any time to indulge in scrappy sewing - boo hoo! You can see the start I made on the quilt today - just cutting out blocks and putting them on the design wall for storage.  It does give me a good idea of the color spread, though.  Once I have all the blocks cut out I'll lay it all out on the floor to check ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... So. Much. Inspiration! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Are your days all running together like mine?  With my husband working from home, there's not much to differentiate weekday from weekend and I really have to think about what day it is.  That being said, it's Wednesday, which means it's time for a little bit of scrappy inspiration!  Actually, a lot of inspiration - Instagram has been rocking it this week!

How about if we start with something tiny!  Can you imagine sewing those itty bitty hexies?

But then there's this beautiful full-size version!

I'm not exactly sure what you would call this ...

Hi, all!

Welcome back!  I hope everyone is staying healthy and busy - there's certainly plenty to do these days, even if you are stuck at home.  I know I've discovered hidden treasures in my own stash AND it seems like lots of folks have been cleaning and organizing, which means that I'm getting calls about t-shirt quilts more and more lately!

Today we've got another great guest blogger joining us - Susan of Stitched by Susan!  I do hope you'll check out her blog - just a quick glance through her posts and you'll find so ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... A Little Ray of Sunshine! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, I got a wild hair earlier this week when I was writing my Monday blogpost, and decided to make a mini quilt in honor/memory of this strange strange time in our world.  I dragged out my scrap boxes and found a stack of denim squares...

...but of course I couldn't leave it at that!  So I whacked...

...and reassembled.  Then I turned it and whacked it again!

Well, if something worked twice, why not whack again?
The 1 1/2" squares came in to play, too, and I ended up with...

This!  I taped it ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... A Little Sanity In This Crazy World! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Still hanging in there?  We are - although I have to admit that it is hard to stay in all the time!  I've been going a little stir crazy, and while I love making masks, they don't take much mental effort, and my thoughts have been running around in circles as a result.  So when I filled all the orders I had received for masks, I decided to take a little "personal" time.  The orphan block quilt had been hanging on my design wall taunting me, so I decided it was time to make a little progress ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem.... Orphan Blocks! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Are you going stir crazy yet?  It seems like the whole world has gone bonkers, but we know the secret to staying sane - quilting!  I decided that while we are homebound, I am going to do two things - make lots of comfort quilts using scraps and stash, and I'm going to work on a Christmas wall hanging kit that I've had for several (seven?) years now!

So yesterday I grabbed my orphan block tub (yes, that's it above, plus I found another smaller one hidden away!) and pulled out some pieces that caught my eye ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem - Inspiration! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a while since I had the time to post on Scrappy Wednesday, because I've been trying to get my quilt studio organized and set up.  But I've been seeing such a lot of fabulous inspiration on Instagram under the hashtag #scrapquilt that I think it's time to share some of them with you!

Isn't this a beauty?  I think that it's a Jacob's Ladder variation, and I love the contrast of the darks and lights!

This is such a great way to use up solid scraps, and the small ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Reorganizing! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a busy week around here, and I'm  happy to say my sewing studio is finally starting to shape up!  My long arm machine is back up...

...and hooray, I managed to get my IKEA wire drawers underneath it!  At the other house I had plastic storage tubs full of scraps under the front of the machine, but I really don't think I want to do that here.  And that means it's time for a little reorganization!

I think I'm going to use the wire drawers to sort and store my scraps ...
